M!!!` !!!!x%!!!!!!!!!> :  Child Center Advisory Committee Report October 2019 Welcome/Expectations & Roles of Advisory Board-Each member in attendance introduced themselves. It was discussed that the purpose of this committee is to advise the child center in areas that need improvement or where the staff has questions. Program updates and highlights were given including: Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS)-Discussed how the child center maintained their 5-star rating in May and Carlin received a 4 star rating. We will continue with reduced coaching and will be assessed again in two years. External coach reported that in Nevada there are 19-5 star center and there are only two in Northeastern Nevada. Technical Assistance Center for Social Emotional Inventory (TACSEI)- Reported who internal and external coaches are and which classrooms they will work with. NAEYC-It was reported that we applied for reaccreditation in February and are awaiting assessment which should be complete by December 2019. Parent Representative Committee-The parent representative stated that we are struggling to find parents to participate on the committee and that we will see who shows up to the next meeting. If we dont have a good show the parent representative committee will be disbanded. Enrollment status was reported-We have 1 spot open in full day, two spots in our 3-year-old classes and 2 spots in our grant program. The 2-year-old, 4-year-old and Carlin classes are full. Gave updates from the grant meeting that the director and lead teachers attended last week. Also mentioned that we have two spots open and need help filling them. It was also discussed that we need to have 10% of our children enrolled in our grant programs that are on IEPs. A name was given of who to contact at the school district to assist families in getting children assessments in a timely manner. Program changes-Our new lead teacher was introduced, and it was mentioned the classroom changes. It was also discussed that we have openings for assistant teachers in every class that we need help finding qualified staff for. Scholarship/Tuition Request- One of our preschoolers had a father who passed away recently. It was discussed whether we would like to pay for the childs tuition for the rest of the year, a portion would be paid out of a scholarship account and the other portion would be absorbed by the Child Center. It was determined that Sarah would talk with the mom to see if this is a need for the family.
