It was discussed that the purpose of this committee is to advise the child center in areas that need improvement or where the staff has questions. Program updates and highlights were given including: Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS)-Discussed how the child center maintained their 5 star rating after the ECERS (Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale) assessment in May 2017. Technical Assistance Center for Social Emotional Inventory (TACSEI)-We discussed that this is the social/emotional curriculum that we have adopted. We discussed creating a letter to give to parents explaining TACSEI. Our internal coach updated us on data collection results. We were given numbers of Behavior Incident Reports (BIR) we have had this year. The data shows that BIRs have decreased by 50% since September which means that our strategies are helping children to improve in their social skills. Parent Representative Committee-We discussed the function of the Parent Representative Committee and how they have been beneficial to the center thus far. This year they have provided snacks for staff during conference days, set up a class donations board, created a suggestion folder and will provide treats for a holiday thank you. Enrollment status was reported-All classrooms are full with children on the waiting list for each class. Security Update and Cameras-Discussed having sound in each observation booth. Also, had a big discussion on installing cameras in the classrooms for security and training purposes. The group was somewhat divided in the thought of cameras in the classroom. Nevada Ready Preschool Development Grant-Updates were given on numbers in each program and how the new grant is going thus far. Staff Handbook-A big discussion was had about amending the handbook to state that if staff does not complete licensing requirements (TB tests, Background Checks, etc) by the due date their employment will be determined. The group unanimously agreed to make this amendment.
