Meisner Centers Directors and Staff: Lisa Costa-Campbell, Jill Chambliss, Veronica Nelson, Kandy Scheel, (Diane Wrightman was unable to attend because GBC administrators were visiting the Pahrump Campus during the Distance Education Meeting. Approval of the September 14, 2017 Distance Education Committee Meeting Minutes. Proctoring Procedures at GBC Centers Generally, faculty send email with proctoring information to Centers through the IAV-(insert Center names here) email accounts. The codes and instructions are printed and put under lock and key. Proctors include Center Directors, GBC staff, student workers and facilitators. When a student worker is taking a proctored exam, the Center Director or the student worker informs the faculty member and requests the proctor information be sent directly to the Center Director or staff member. Some Centers ask students to make appointments for proctoring to assure there is time/space available, other centers do not require appointments. Centers expressed that it is nice to have traffic and more students coming to campus. Some Centers are not officially open for proctoring on Fridays, but accommodations are typically honored. Some centers send proctors to high schools for Dual Credit Exams. Suggestions to improve proctoring: Gear testing hours to times when the ASC is open, especially during the summer sessions. Use IAV email addresses to distribute information because Center Directors might not be on campus and staff do not have access to their email addresses. Centers ask faculty to consider if it is necessary to scan and fax and also mail originals. It would be helpful if Math faculty unified scanning procedures. Helpful Resources to improve proctoring: Noise cancelling headphones for busy, multiuse proctoring spaces. Scanners to reduce computer bottlenecks when instructors require scratch material. External Proctoring: For high stakes testing some Center Directors, conduct the proctoring themselves. At least one Center Director noted that external institutions have similar proctoring requirements compared to GBC.
