Angie de Braga shared the results of the event evaluations for this years humanities speakers who presented on February 2. 17 surveys were returned for Adam Burke who spoke in Theater 221 Oral Interpretation on the importance of sound in story-telling. 11 gave his presentation the highest possible rating, with 4 giving it the next highest rating. Overall feeling was that his presentation delivered much food for thought and gave the audience new perspectives on the lives of others. It really captured the dignity of work. 24 evaluations were received for Andy Wilkinsons lecture to Humanities 101. 12 people rated him with the highest possible rating, with 9 in the next category. Comments were that it was useful to learn about gifts and play; and that Andy tied it to real life. They felt his presentation was a good way to get students involved, and several mentioned they were interested in purchasing the book Andy cited as the basis for his lecture. Justine Stout reported that her committee has been busy promoting the upcoming film festival with some radio advertising and committee chair, Russ Minter doing a TV interview with KENV-TV. Justine has been sending emails of the film trailers and details to GBC employees. At least 40 tickets have already been sold to the Oscar Shorts screening on February 17 at the Western Folklife Center. There will be discussions after the films with various people involved in the films, and on the closing night, there will be at least one actor and a writer from the film produced in Nevada, The Ashes of Brush Flats. Call Justine if youd like to help with evaluations at the films. Mica Johnson gave an update on the GBC Art Gallery. There was no show during Cowboy Poetry this year as she was unable to get in touch with western artist, Tom Baker. She is putting up a small photography show now featuring Cris Voss, Summer Elliott, and others. The spring GBC student art show will have its opening reception the week of May first in conjunction with the distribution of Argentum literary and arts magazine. Toni Milano has received Argentum entries from six people so far. Sidney Miller will help judge the art category. Josh Webster may need an additional writing judge. She has posters if anyone needs them to help promote the Argentum. Entries are due March 10. Patty Fox updated the committee on the permanent art collection she is developing for the Ĵý Art Gallery. The art will feature work from numerous faculty who have taught at GBC over the years and will include textiles, drawings, paintings, sculpture, pottery and jewelry. President Curtis has dedicated funds to this project and will be addressing the need for secure storage of the art. !" ; = o K % * ?
