The President will motivate and empower the institution in its growth and evolution from a four year comprehensive college to Nevadas next State College. The Ĵý Faculty Senate recommends the following attributes be adopted by the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents as it prepares the prospectus for the Presidential Search. Qualities and Qualifications for the next President of Ĵý Possesses a terminal degree in a field relevant to the mission of Ĵý. Evidence of broad experience in higher education, as a faculty member, faculty leader and administrator in increasingly responsible positions. Can articulate a dynamic vision for the Colleges future as a State College. Demonstrates an ability to lead a comprehensive college providing both CTE and liberal arts education, awarding certificates, associate and bachelor degrees. Understands, appreciates and promotes the expanded academic role of a state college, including post-baccalaureate instruction. Demonstrate or provide evidence of an ability to quickly adapt to the unique culture of Ĵý and rural Nevada. Understands and appreciates the challenges facing rural Nevada college students. Access Affordability Flexibility First generation college-going challenges Demonstrates an ability to communicate effectively and actively across service area. Demonstrates an ability to facilitate community involvement among the main campus, centers, and satellite facilities in rural areas. Demonstrates an understanding of the implications of higher education as a driver and component of the economic engine in the state of Nevada. Demonstrate an ability to collaborate with community and business to plan programs, services and campus facilities to enhance work force development. Possesses the visionary ability to create the college as a source for economic innovation, diversification and sustainability. Can demonstrate an ability and desire to capitalize on the strengths of GBC's faculty, staff and administration to help advance the college. Embrace shared governance, while recognizing the President is the leader of the College and the final decision authority. Empower faculty by creating an open culture for innovative ideas and action. Recognize the valuable human resources, both on and off campus, and provide opportunities for people to have input.
