Professional Development: The committee reviewed requests and awarded $350 for registration fees for each of the following: Heidi Johnston Tamara Mette Kathy Schwandt Michael Bail George Kleeb Three individuals requests were denied as the application was not complete. The committee reviewed and recommended the following change to the Part-Time Employee Workload Policy under basic rules: Part-time faculty may not teach more than 6 credit hours for three consecutive months, except in special circumstances with prior approval of administration. Merit Policy: Our committee was assigned the task of looking over the merit policy and specifically address the section in the policy that says the supervisor can increase or decrease the faculty members self-evaluation score by one category. However, the committee reviewed the merit policy wording and feels that merit should be separate from the evaluation policy. Merit is something that happens after the evaluation process is complete. Thus, that paragraph should not be in the merit policy, but address in the faculty evaluation policy. The Committee also discussed and recommended the following definitions of Program Supervisor and Lead Faculty to the Faculty Senate and the new definitions were approved by the Faculty Senate: Program Supervisor New definition A Program Supervisor will typically oversee a Bachelors degree programfor a three (3) workload unit reassignment. However, with sufficient program duties and workload, certain Bachelor degree emphases, Associates degrees, or stand-alone certificate programs maybe considered for workload reassignment. A Program Supervisor may be awarded workloadreassignment based on an evaluation by thefaculty members supervising Dean iftheduties performed areabove or in addition to a normal faculty workload. Workload reassignment for Program Supervisor will require documentation of the workload and approval by the Dean. Workload reassignment will be awarded proportionately with the premise that one day per weekfor performed dutiesis equivalent to a three (3) workload unit reassignmentand/or equivalent plus days as approved by the supervising Dean. Workload reassignments shall be reviewed annually. Lead Faculty New definition A Lead Faculty is a faculty member, determined by the department and the Dean, who is teaching within a degree program that requires a limited level of coordination and leadership for an area not predominantly overseen by a department chair or program supervisor. There is no workload reassignment for this role as the duties are essentially the same as for other faculty. This individual is the primary contact and coordinator for faculty within a program. Lead Faculty status may be reflected in the management role for annual evaluation.
