We dont know yet how much money is allocated this year to disperse, but last year it was $2400 and 10 requests were funded at no more than $350 each. Update on Faculty Performance Review Process: Norm Whittaker attended to update committee on the Faculty Performance Review process. It is in draft form and the policy part is on hold for now. The reason is because they are trying to closely follow the Administrative Faculty Performance review policy and it has been determined by the VPAA that the latter conflicts with the Merit Policy. Since the two performance processes need to be the same they decided to halt the writing of the policy until the conflict could be resolved. The conflict is: The Administrative Faculty Performance Review policy states the supervisor can adjust each sub category of the self-evaluation up or down one point upon discussion with the faculty member and must provide documentation to support that change in the comments section. The GBC Merit Policy states that the supervisor can increase or decrease the faculty members self-evaluation score by one category (overall performance level rating i.e. excellent to commendable, or satisfactory to commendable). The Comp & Benefits committee recommends: The Academic Faculty Performance Review Policy and the Administrative Faculty Review process follow the same guidelines that the supervisor can adjust the scoring of each sub category up or down one point upon discussion with the faculty member, any point changes must be documented by supervisor in the comment section of the performance review. The Comp & Benefits committee recommends: The Merit policy under Initial Merit Qualifiers #9 (first sentence) should be changed to: At the final level of evaluation, the Dean, VP, or President could have either downgraded or upgraded the faculty members self-evaluation form by no more than one category (i.e. Excellent to Commendable, or Satisfactory to Commendable). Statement from Comp & Benefits Committee: The performance review policies for Administrative faculty and Academic faculty are separate from the merit policy. Employees are first rated on their performance (Performance Reviews). When Merit funds are available the ratings from the Performance Reviews are then used.
