ࡱ> ,.+] bjbj99 .S0\S0\tt  y$%v3 XPLg` pI0yx,QQQ@yQt> : Budget and Facilities Committee Meeting March 4th, 2015 Time and Place: 1:30 PM in DCIT Room 201 Committee Members Present: Dave Douglas, Tony Cortes, Steve Garcia, Bob Hannu, Jon Licht, Sharon Sutherland, and Dwaine Hiles & Dorinda Friez (both via e-mail) NOTE: Sonja Sibert (ex-officio) was unintentionally left off the original meeting request and has not had an opportunity to offer up any suggestions or comments yet. This meeting was called in order to further clarify what student use was and how it applies to the allocation of equipment funds to the various departments in the Fall. A copy of the Board of Regents policies was used to take excerpts from and add to our committees current policies and procedures to develop a rough draft version to use as a starting point and get feedback from the committee. The committee members all believed that the intention and duties of the committee were to allocate the funds provided solely for equipment, and the equipment must have a direct benefit to the students. Therefore, much of the Board of Regents policies guidelines on how to allocate the funds did not apply and would be better left unmentioned in our committees policy. There is concern over whether allowing software in the policy will lead to requests for maintaining licenses and updates for particular software, which in some cases is an annual fee. There is still discussion ongoing whether to have wording that specifically states what a direct benefit to the students is or leave it simply as a direct benefit; and whether to have small excerpts from the Board of Regents policy in our policy or to simply reference the entire Board of Regents policy. The committee will continue to discuss these issues. Once a final proposal is developed, it will then be brought to Faculty Senate for vote. Meeting was adjourned at 2:02 PM.
