The request involves 6 units of Information Systems and 9 units of business-related courses - a total of 15 credits. The students request and supporting documentation was sent to the Computer Technology and Business Department Chairs and their recommendation was to turn down all but 3 credits of BUS 101. Academic Standards voted to support the recommendation of the departments and thus we recommend the awarding of 3 credits of BUS 101 for the student. A recent Board of Regents ruling was as follows: A student may withdraw from a course up until 60 percent of the course instruction has occurred [any time prior the date designated by the college]. For one-day courses, a withdrawal must be completed by the day before the class meeting. And we are anticipating that in the near future, a W will not be considered a completion, but an F will be a completion. To this end, Academic Standards came up with the following verbiage to add to the catalog and GBC policy: You may drop a course online, or in person at the Admissions and Records Office or at your local center. You should first discuss your decision with your advisor and, if you are receiving financial aid, with the Student Financial Services Office. If you do not formally withdraw before 60% of the course has elapsed, your instructor will automatically assign you a grade of F. The last day to drop for regular semester courses is the end of the ninth week of the semester, and for non-regular semester courses and summer courses longer than 1 day, the last day is before 60% of thecourse has elapsed. For courses that are 1 day, the student must drop the course no later than the day before it begins. The Academic Standards Committee was asked to approve a request by Heather Steel to change the grading basis of Tech Prep classes. These are classes that are offered at the high schools for which GBC awards credit as part of a state-wide program. In the past, we have only awarded a P grade, but all of the other institutions across the state award an A or B, based on the high school grade. The Committee voted unanimously to approve this request. + b c = @ J H [ e ҳsdUhWhW56PJ\]hlhjS56PJ\]hlhjS5PJ\]hl5PJ\]hlhl5PJ\]hWhW5PJ\]hhjSCJOJQJaJhhwCJOJQJaJhhWCJOJQJ\aJhhWCJOJQJaJhjShW5 hjShjS hjShWhjShW>* +:;+ O & Fddd[$\$gdjShddd[$\$^hgdpJh^hgdpJ & FgdjSh^hgdjS & FgdjSgdW $da$gdW 3RMNO$DŹhWhjShjSPJ hpJPJ hTFPJhlhW5PJ]hWhW5PJ]hlhl5PJ\]hl5PJ\]hWhW5PJ\]hWhW5PJ,1h/ =!"#$% j 666666666vvvvvvvvv666666>6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666hH6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666662 0@P`p2( 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p8XV~ OJPJQJ_HmH nH sH tH J`J Normal dCJ_HaJmH sH tH DA D Default Paragraph FontRiR 0 Table Normal4 l4a (k ( 0No List @@@ W List Paragraph ^m$`^@` W0 Normal (Web)ddd[$\$CJOJPJQJ^JaJR@R 0 Balloon Text dCJOJQJ^JaJNo!N 0Balloon Text CharCJOJQJ^JaJPK![Content_Types].xmlN0EH-J@%ǎǢ|ș$زULTB l,3;rØJB+$G]7O٭V$ !)O^rC$y@/yH*񄴽)޵߻UDb`}"qۋJחX^)I`nEp)liV[]1M<OP6r=zgbIguSebORD۫qu gZo~ٺlAplxpT0+[}`jzAV2Fi@qv֬5\|ʜ̭NleXdsjcs7f W+Ն7`g ȘJj|h(KD- dXiJ؇(x$( :;˹!
