This information provides statistics to aid in Administrative/Executive decisions. The format of the report has changed and focuses on the library as a resource, both physically and virtually, the library as a learning resource and the library as an electronic resource. The report will include statistics over a longer period of time in order to identify trends and aid in development and budgeting. The collection of statistics has been edited to include searches AND retrievals for each of the electronic resources. When both figures were not available, estimates were used. By looking at searches versus retrievals, we can find which databases are most successful for our students. Patron StatisticsPatron Visits The library saw a total of 10,797 patron visits during the first eleven weeks of the Fall 2010 semester. There were 10,967 patron visits for the first eleven weeks of the Spring 2010 Semester. The above chart shows the patron usage of the library broken down per day. Of the 10,797 patrons who visited the library during the first eleven weeks of the Fall 2010 Semester, Wednesdays were the most popular day to visit with a total of 2,628 patrons visiting on this day. Additional breakdowns show that the busiest part of the day to visit the library was between the hour of 12:00 pm - 12:59 pm, with 12.99% of patrons visiting at this time of day. The hour of 7:00 am - 7:59 am was the time of day with the least amount of patrons visiting the library, with 3.62% of visitors visiting at this time of day. This number is up significantly. During the Spring 2010 Semester, only 1.42% of patron visits were during this time of day. The following is a breakdown of all other time periods, with the percentage of patrons visiting during that particular time: Library Statistics Report Circulation Statistics 7 Library Statistics Report Electronic Resources Statistics 13 Check - Out Statistics During the Fall Semester 2010 , the library engaged in 1831 check-outs a 15% increase from the Fall 2009 semester. During the Fall Semester, we have dropped three databases due to lack of use, and have added 1 database, NewsBank. The databases continue to rise in popularity and usage. The importance of having the databases are two-fold. First, it allows all Ĵý students access to up-to-date articles and journals written by scholars from around the world. Secondly, having a good database system allows distance students and students from our other campuses, the ability to also access this valuable information from our other campuses. The databases we subscribe to are: (The number in bold is the number of retrievals during the first eleven weeks of the Fall 2010 Semester. Percentage Change is not included since this report covers a partial semester) eBooks Statistics: Electronic Resources Statistics Patrons have access to a total of 5,342 eBooks. During the Fall Semester 2010 we added a new vedor, ebrary, which provides subscription access of over 5,900 eBooks. We have access to 68 databases. Three databases were dropped at the beginning of the Fall 2010 Semester (The Forum, IJNES and Anthrosource) due to lack of interest and use of these databases. We added NewsBank as a new database. We have access to 11,250 eBooks. ebrary was added as a resource during the Fall 2010 Semester, ebrary gives access to 5,970 eBooks. ebrary is now our largest resource for eBooks. Statistics for the Fall 2010 Semester have not been entered yet. It will be interesting to see how the opening of the student union has affected the number of students visiting the library. Overall trends show that the majority of the patrons visiting the library are studying or using the computers. InterLibrary Loans (ILL) InterLibrary Loans for the first eleven weeks of the Fall 2010 Semester: 111 During the Fall 2010 Semester, the Library has increased its presence on the web by implementing Facebook and Twitter. Emerging technologies and tools are being investigated in order to provide students with services and information on the services available at the Library. Database trends continue to rise. There are approximately three times more searches than recoveries. This may indicate issues with search strategies or ease of use by individual databases. Preliminary indications seem to suggest that the opening of the new Student Union has not hurt library attendance. Numbers are consistent with the first eleven weeks of the Spring 2010 Semester. There has been a significant change in the number of patron visits from 7:00 to 7:59 AM. During the Spring 2010 Semester only 1.42% of the patron visits occurred during this hour. The first eleven weeks of the Fall 2010 Semester has shown a jump to 3.62% of the patron visits. This report reflects new statistics being tracked, which include: Purpose of patron visits Collection Size Fines The Google Analytics tool is up and running, and should help provide consistent statistics in the future. Many new graphs have been added to help give a quick visual element to trends at the library. Statistics for electronic resources are now collected to be as uniform as possible across all of the vendors. Searches and retrievals are included, and when number are not available for one or the other, estimates have been calculated. * Working on this chart Vxz # 2 E F [ ^ u v & ( J M 9 : < > Ϳ|k||k| h rOJQJ^JmHnHu*h rh rCJaJh r6CJ]aJh rCJaJh rCJ(aJ(h r6CJP]aJP h r5CJOJQJ\^JaJh rB*CJKHaJph h r6CJ(OJQJ]^JaJ( h r6CJPOJQJ]^JaJP h r6CJdOJQJ]^JaJd*.AVWXyz!
