Cliff Ferry thinks that the ICE strategic plan can be woven into GBCs strategic plan. Hell work on it, write something to incorporate into the plan, and submit it to ICE for approval. Ruby Mountain Chamber Music Festival Childrens Concert Over 200 kids and parents attended the performance here at the theater. It was promoted through the Elko County Library childrens department and Kids College. It cost us only for the posters and tickets. We also received other publicity from the SGA Welcome Back BBQ, which Angie and her student worker attended and passed out ICE information. Angie was also interviewed by Lori Gilbert on KENV, which was broadcast on 9/8/10, discussing upcoming ICE events. Argentum The projected cost for Argentum this year is $4000. Mike McFarlane will fund it to the extent he can. We will distribute copies at ICE events this year. Barbra Moss encourages her Writing Fiction class to submit work to Argentum. A subcommittee was formed to work on Argentum, with Barbra and Lynne volunteering. Gail Rappa will be asked if she wishes to work on it, too. Fall Programming Joni Morris will be performing her Tribute to Patsy Cline at the GBC Theater on 10/14. Wyoming will produce the press release, Mary and Lynne volunteered to work that night, and Mary will also have her students collate the survey results after the performance. We need to find out if Joni will do an interview with Lori Gilbert. This event will cost ICE about $1000. The performer will be paid out of ticket receipts. We will see if the Controllers Office will sell advance tickets for us, and tickets will be available at the door. Joshua Kane will be here November 18. He arrives on the 17th, has a lengthy run-through with Dave at the theater, then will offer his programs for us on the 18th. The Imagination Toolkit Workshop will be at 10 in the theater, followed by a possible lecture for the Oral Interpretation at 1, then his Tales of Terror performance will be that night in the theater. Angie will call local high school teachers to see if they would like their students to attend the workshop. Mardell will invite the Silver Stage Players to all events. Hollerback Film looks at why people dont vote. Wendy will talk to Danny to see when he wants to show the film to his students, and to ascertain how long the film is. Wed like to show it before the debate by candidates for regent on 9/29 and before the 10/26 gubernatorial debate (both here on campus). Angie was approached by Michon Mackadon, who is a Nevada Humanities Speaker and author of Bombast, which is about nuclear testing in Nevada. She could possibly speak about Yucca Mountain as well. We will investigate her availability further. Spring Programming & Upcoming Projects Justin Evans (local poet) will have a book published in the spring, and is quite interested in doing a reading for us. Susan Fletcher (from Portland, OR) does writing workshops, is very reasonably priced, and was here for the Great Basin Writing Project. Public Service was brought up as a possible programming idea. It would be nice to have someone to talk about Americorps, the Peace Corps, etc. This is a strong possibility for our Empowerment Week theme. Perhaps we can find someone student-aged who has taken on a public service program. Discussion of a food drive was held. The Film Festival Committee meets tonight at Duncan Littlecreek at 6. Russ Minter is chair. We may have the Chamber of Commerces Business After Hours here on 2/17, to show them our new student center and to publicize the upcoming film festival. Next meeting will be on 9/30 at 10 a.m. Meeting Adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Karen Dannehl 678" !
