Please send your changes to Yvonne Sutherland.* Respectfully submitted, Mary Doucette Curriculum and Articulation Chair February 4, 2010 To: Curriculum and Articulation Committee Regarding: Changes to the AAS Science General Education Requirements Several of the AAS degree programs, such as Emergency Medical Services, among others, are facing challenges to keep program and required general education credits under the 60 credit mark. The Science Department proposes adopting the Nevada Board of Regents decision, to reduce the number of general education credits in the Associates of Applied Science from six credits to three credits. Currently, the approved list of AAS general education science courses includes two groups: Group 1Group 2ANTH 102EIT 233ANSC 100ELM 112BAST 101IT 208BBIOL 100, 190, 223, 224, 251WELD 150BCHEM 100, 121ENV 100GEOG 103GEOL 101, 132NUTR 121PHYS 100, 107, 151 The Science Department proposes to reduce the number of general education science credits in the AAS to three credits by removing several courses in Group 1 (BIOL 223, 224, 251) and removing all courses listed in Group 2. These courses need to be removed from the general education grid due to one of the following reasons: B courses are not transferrable; the course(s) doesnt contain sufficient background material in subjects like chemistry; and, all Science General Education courses should include: The Scientific Method, using theory to predict outcomes, and using mathematical models to predict outcomes. Therefore, we propose the following new list be the only courses in the AAS Science general education box: Group 1ANTH 102ANSC 100AST 101BIOL 100, 190CHEM 100, 121ENV 100GEOG 103GEOL 101, 132NUTR 121PHYS 100, 107, 151 If you have any questions, please get in contact with David Freistroffer (2018) or Carrie Bruno (2204). Sincerely, David Freistroffer Carrie Bruno Science Department Chairs PLEASE NOTE: 1. NRES150 will be added to this list per Pete Bagley. ,-.[\cjkuy{|}~ öÌo___SGSGhe~iCJOJQJaJhBCJOJQJaJh4]he~i5CJOJQJaJhp'he5CJOJQJaJhvT5CJOJQJaJhe~i5CJOJQJaJh5akhP)5CJOJQJaJhe5CJOJQJaJhP)5CJOJQJaJh5akhe5CJOJQJaJhP)CJOJQJaJhP)hP)5CJOJQJaJhP)he5CJOJQJaJ-.\|}~ { | $$Ifa$gde~igdvTgde~i $a$gdvT $a$gde ( U V l { | d f ÷܎sg^gVKVKVKVKVhe~ihvTOJQJhBOJQJhB5OJQJhe~ihvT5OJQJh4]he~iCJOJQJaJhvTCJOJQJaJhB5CJOJQJaJhP)hP)5CJOJQJaJhP)CJOJQJaJhYCJOJQJaJhrsCJOJQJaJh5ak5CJOJQJaJh5akCJOJQJaJhe~iCJOJQJaJhBCJOJQJaJ +$$Ifa$gde~ikd$$Ifl\3R& t(%%%%0R&644 lalp(%%%%ytB e f m Bkd*$$Ifl\3R& t0R&644 lalytB$$Ifa$gdB $IfgdvT PBB7 $IfgdP)$$Ifa$gdBkd$$Ifl\3R& t0R&644 lalytB $IfgdvT 3 ; > C % , F K S d e f g h j M N P VY$%娠h6 hP)5hP)h%hP)5 hP)5hP)hP)OJQJhP)5OJQJhP)hP)5OJQJhWOJQJhKIOJQJh`OJQJhP)OJQJhBOJQJhe~ihBOJQJ% f [MBM7 $IfgdKI $IfgdvT$$Ifa$gdBkd$$Ifl\3R& t0R&644 lalytBf g h i j O P h i w [TTTTTTTTgdekd$$Ifl\3R& t0R&644 lalytB w #VkdN$$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP) $IfgdP)gdP)gde #$-67?GJVkd$$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP) $IfgdP)Vkd$$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP)GHeop~JVkd$$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP) $IfgdP)VkdP$$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP)JVkdR$$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP) $IfgdP)Vkd$$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP)JVkd$$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP) $IfgdP)Vkd$$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP) JEEEgdP)Vkd$$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP) $IfgdP)VkdT$$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP) 12Vkd$$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP) $IfgdP)gdP) & FgdP) JVkd$$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP) $IfgdP)VkdV$$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP)JVkdX $$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP) $IfgdP)Vkd $$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP)JVkd $$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP) $IfgdP)Vkd $$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP) JVkd $$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP) $IfgdP)VkdZ $$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP)+,-.JEEEgdP)Vkd\ $$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP) $IfgdP)Vkd $$Ifl 0H$ t644 laytP)%gdegdP)21h:pP)/ =!"#$% 5 01h:pP)/ =!"#$% 9 01h:pP)/ =!"#$% P 21h:p/ =!"#$% ($$Ifl!vh55 55#v#v #v#v:V l t(%%%%0R&655 55alp(%%%%ytB$$Ifl!vh55 55#v#v #v#v:V l t0R&655 55alytB$$Ifl!vh55 55#v#v #v#v:V l t0R&655 55alytB$$Ifl!vh55 55#v#v #v#v:V l t0R&655 55alytB$$Ifl!vh55 55#v#v #v#v:V l t0R&655 55alytBT$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)T$$If!vh55#v:V l t65ytP)j 666666666vvvvvvvvv666666>6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666hH6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666662 0@P`p2( 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p8XV~ OJPJQJ_HmH nH sH tH D`D NormalCJ_HaJmH sH tH DA D Default Paragraph FontRi@R 0 Table Normal4 l4a (k ( 0No List nn e Table Grid7:V0LL -(0 Balloon TextCJOJQJ^JaJNN -(0Balloon Text CharCJOJQJ^JaJJ@"J P) List Paragraphd^m$PK![Content_Types].xmlj0Eжr(΢Iw},-j4 wP-t#bΙ{UTU^hd}㨫)*1P' ^W0)T9<l#$yi};~@(Hu* Dנz/0ǰ $ X3aZ,D0j~3߶b~i>3\`?/[G\!-Rk.sԻ..a濭?PK!֧6 _rels/.relsj0 }Q%v/C/}(h"O = C?hv=Ʌ%[xp{۵_Pѣ<1H0ORBdJE4b$q_6LR7`0̞O,En7Lib/SeеPK!kytheme/theme/themeManager.xml M @}w7c(EbˮCAǠҟ7՛K Y, e.|,H,lxɴIsQ}#Ր ֵ+!,^$j=GW)E+& 8PK!Ptheme/theme/theme1.xmlYOo6w toc'vuر-MniP@I}úama[إ4:lЯGRX^6؊>$ !)O^rC$y@/yH*񄴽)޵߻UDb`}"qۋJחX^)I`nEp)liV[]1M<OP6r=zgbIguSebORD۫qu gZo~ٺlAplxpT0+[}`jzAV2Fi@qv֬5\|ʜ̭NleXdsjcs7f W+Ն7`g ȘJj|h(KD- dXiJ؇(x$( :;˹!
