She will give a brief summary of these percentages. The report will emphasize the role of adjunct faculty at GBC. Sue compiled these statistics from adjunct lists from Annie and information provided by Lijuan. The written report will be included in the April Faculty Senate packet. In addition, this report has been posted to our webpage. Contacting Adjuncts There was a discussion about some adjuncts not checking their groupwise accounts and not being aware of important information. Also, adjuncts need to know that they can call Annie with any questions. Future Projects The committee thought it would be a good idea to write a cover letter that would be given to all adjuncts. Perhaps, the letter could be given to Human Resources and included with each individual contract. A letter could also be included in packets that adjuncts receive at In Service meetings held at the beginning of each semester. The letter would contain such information as local contacts, job responsibilities such as checking groupwise accounts at least once a week, and submitting a complete syllabus. The goal is to improve communication between adjuncts and their department. The letter could also be customized with local contacts for other GBC sites. Barbra will talk to Mike McFarlane about this cover letter. Sue will work on a draft of a sample cover letter. Sue will email it to committee members for their comments and suggestions. 4. New Business There was a brief discussion of the need for a new adjunct co- chair and 2 new voting representatives for next semesters Adjunct Faculty Committee. We also talked about how to get more adjuncts actively involved with our committee. The next meeting will be held on May 5th at noon.
