ࡱ> HJG 'bjbj :Dhh28-Ly,j#f( #######$r'6##P$# # #r!!T!"Oƣpu!":#0j#!''x'!"'!"##j#' : Librarys Quarterly Report December 2008 The library ended the 2008 Fall Semester with over 40% higher patron visits over the same period last year. (So far for 2009 Spring Semester, the library visitation statistics are up a whopping 86.2% over the same period last year!) We feel this can be attributed to implementing a library open house the first Saturday of the semester. This open house was actually integrated with the INT program, which allowed for over 225+ students coming into the library for orientation. The library staff provided treats and drinks for the students. There was also a drawing for door prizes, which generated much interest. The library also devised and implemented a student survey (see attached report) during the 2008 Fall Semester. This survey gave the library a snapshot of how the patrons view the library and how the library staff is providing service to the patrons. We also asked students to give suggestions for improving the library and an overwhelming number of responses asked to have a coffee bar made available. Due to the responses, the library worked out a plan with Caf X to purchase coffee and have it made available to the patrons for $1.00 per cup. While the library has yet to break even, we believe that the responsiveness to the students and providing convenience has generated much good will. The library used Book Sale funds to purchase classic and modern DVDs to make available to the students to check out. The library felt this would enhance the students life experience while living on campus at the same time, not increasing their cost of attending college. Students may check these DVDs out for a period of 7 days. This development in the library has been very popular with the students. The library will continue to work toward its goal of providing an atmosphere for the students that will enhance their learning experience while attending Ĵý. With future book sales, we hope to enhance the furniture within the library and create study areas that are comfortable and inviting.
