Absent - Joyce Shaw & Steve Baker David Ellefsen presented a grim looking budget! He told the committee that this year, due to current budget cuts, the library was just able to maintain the databases. He also told how he analyzed the databases and trimmed some that werent being used while adding others that he thought would be beneficial to the faculty and students. One of the new databases that the library picked up is the ProQuest Central, which includes over 11,000 full-text periodicals and newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and the Los Angeles Times. Due to the lack of funds, the library is hoping to at least purchase some eBooks this year, which can be accessed through the library web page and is available to the outlaying campuses also. David Ellefsen asked David Leahy to give a report on library usage statistics. David Leahy presented a report which detailed the increased usage of the library this semester compared to the same time Fall 07 semester. Patron visits were up a dramatic 39% over last year. David Ellefsen attributed this increase to changes we have made in the library along with an Open House the library planned this year to coincide with the INT program. David Leahy also pointed out the patron visits so far this year on Saturdays total 160 the first eight weeks of the semester. The entire Fall 07 semester saw a total of 159 patron visits. David Ellefsen announced that the library will soon be getting a coffee bar. Working in conjunction with Xavier, a counter will be placed in the library that will allow patrons the ability to serve themselves with coffee and then pay at the counter. Work orders have been placed with B&G, but as to not rush them, he is looking toward the first part of next semester before having this new feature implemented. David Ellefsen reported that he was interested in providing the students of GBC a survey to find out how the library is doing, what services they would like to see, and what changes they would bring to the library if they were making the decisions. The group discussed the questions on the survey that David presented. David would like to see this survey realized soon and possibly implement it during classroom instruction. David Ellefsen ended the meeting discussing the importance of Strategic Planning. Discussion ensued and David mentioned he would like everybody to be thinking about this topic so that a plan may be implemented. Bret mentioned that any plan should probably incorporate expanding the electronic medium available to the library, making the library more accessible to students that attend a live campus or even to those internet students. Meeting adjourned at 1:50 P.M. with David and Eric giving a short presentation of the databases in the library and how to use them. 456hHhHOJQJ^JhHCJ OJQJ^JaJ hHCJOJQJ^JaJ#hH5>*CJOJQJ\^JaJ hH5CJOJQJ\^JaJ56 de $ a$gdH$ a$$ a$> 00P:pH/ =!"#$% Dpf 666666666vvvvvvvvv666666>6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666hH6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666662 0@P`p2( 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p8XV~OJQJ_HmH nH sH tH ^`^ Normal1$5$7$8$H$%B*KHOJQJ_HmH phsH tH DA D Default Paragraph FontRiR 0 Table Normal4 l4a (k ( 0No List PK![Content_Types].xmlj0Eжr(΢Iw},-j4 wP-t#bΙ{UTU^hd}㨫)*1P' ^W0)T9<l#$yi};~@(Hu* Dנz/0ǰ $ X3aZ,D0j~3߶b~i>3\`?/[G\!-Rk.sԻ..a濭?PK!֧6 _rels/.relsj0 }Q%v/C/}(h"O = C?hv=Ʌ%[xp{۵_Pѣ<1H0ORBdJE4b$q_6LR7`0̞O,En7Lib/SeеPK!kytheme/theme/themeManager.xml M @}w7c(EbˮCAǠҟ7՛K Y, e.|,H,lxɴIsQ}#Ր ֵ+!,^$j=GW)E+& 8PK!Ptheme/theme/theme1.xmlYOo6w toc'vuر-MniP@I}úama[إ4:lЯGRX^6؊>$ !)O^rC$y@/yH*񄴽)޵߻UDb`}"qۋJחX^)I`nEp)liV[]1M<OP6r=zgbIguSebORD۫qu gZo~ٺlAplxpT0+[}`jzAV2Fi@qv֬5\|ʜ̭NleXdsjcs7f W+Ն7`g ȘJj|h(KD- dXiJ؇(x$( :;˹!
