ࡱ> )+(  bjbj 4hh   z||||||?6||zz0f0uu@uB$||u : Crisis Intervention Team The mission statement we have tentatively put together for the Crisis Intervention Team is: The intervention team is committed to: taking a pro-active approach to identify campus community members that may be having difficulties adjusting to change or coping with problems in their personal lives; to create a safe, inviting environment that allows one to express his/her own personal uniqueness; to provide resources, help, support, and crisis intervention in a time of need. We meet every four to six weeks as a group. The initial benefit to the collegewas gained by having a team of willing responders to help with a student or staff member considering suicide. That was the reason the group was formed in the first place as we handled a few of these situations the first year which prompted us toattend training sessionsto become better prepared to help those considering suicide. Over time we have also offered open talk meetings for students & staff as a forum for those unable to talk with anyone else. Two members of the committee also are available to respond in the event of a verbal workplace violence situation (Lynn & I). The committee is a diverse group including both teaching and administrative faculty from various departments. We attempt to respond to a request for assistance in groups of two so that one person is not alone to help.
