In a larger sense, Student Services pertains to the way all employees treat (and assist) students to achieve their goals. Student Services is included under Theme One Provide Student Enrichment; Theme Two, Build Bridges: Facilitate seamless transfer of students between high school, community college, and universities; and Theme Three, Serving Rural Nevada : Provide needed services to students at all GBC sites. MISSION STATEMENT Learning is what breathes life into the institutional mission. Student Services believes that the mission statement must be dynamic. Student learning brings the academic mission and student services into balance. It is in that context Student Services adopted the following mission statement: The mission of Student Services at Ĵý is to create and foster quality learning environments to assist students in defining and attaining academic personal goals. In short Student Services in general and for each department: We facilitate student success! Student Services is designed to provide leadership and support for the development of programs and services that help students clarify and achieve educational objectives, as well as talents that contribute to a constructive campus learning environment and student life. Student Services coordinates student efforts with the departments in each of the following areas: safety and security, outreach and recruitment for prospective students, admissions, registration and records, student financial services and scholarships, academic services, special student services, retention, enrollment management, services to students with disabilities, counseling and transfer services, housing, testing services, career development and placement activities, advising and guidance activities, orientation, student discipline and due process. Student Services facilitates activities of student organizations and activities. It is in that context that each area of Student Services has adopted the following mission statements: Admissions and Records: The mission of the Admissions and Records is to provide a caring, supportive, and professional atmosphere to enhance confidence and academic success. This is accomplished by providing detail-oriented guidance to students (and faculty) throughout their educational process, from application and registration through graduation. Admission Advising and Career Center: The mission of Ĵýs Advising and Career Center is to provide assistance to students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the community in developing, implementing, and evaluating career/life plans. Career development is the theme that runs through all the services provided by the Career Center: academic advising, career/personal assessments, academic/career exploration and placement services. Providing a positive process the emphasis on self-discovery and reflection helps to support and develop students abilities to create personal satisfaction and fulfillment on their career paths. Housing: The mission of student housing is to provide convenient, safe, affordable housing for single and married students, with or without children. Student housing promotes learning and provides social interaction to facilitate student success. ADA- Services to Student with Disabilities: The Ĵý Services for Students with Disabilities Office is committed to providing equal access to educational programs and reasonable accommodations within the classroom for students with documented disabilities. AAR: The mission of the Academic Advisement Report (Degree Audit Reporting System) is to provide a detailed report of academic requirements and the students progress toward a particular degree or certificate. Enrollment Management: The mission of the Office of Enrollment Management is to provide day-to-day leadership in the coordination of enrollment-related activities and to create an atmosphere of success, consistency and peak efficiency in order to yield optimum enrollments of successful students. Environmental Health, Safety and Security: The mission of the Environmental Health, Safety, and Security at Ĵý is to provide a safe and secure environment for all staff, faculty, students and visitors on all of the College centers. Recruitment Department: The mission of Recruitment is to recruit prospective students by providing information about Ĵý and informing them of the academic and personal opportunities attributed to a higher education. Retention: The Student Retention office strives to retain an optimal student body population while coordinating college-wide efforts to provide appropriate, effective support services and resources to students preparing students to achieve their individual collegiate goals. SIS Operations: The mission of SIS Operations is to provide accurate student related data, maintain student records run PeopleSoft processes and queries and assist staff with PeopleSoft and technical issues by providing valuable customer service. Student Financial Services: The Office of Student Financial Services is to provide financial resources to students who would otherwise be unable to pursue their educational and professional goals. Welcome Center: The mission of the Welcome Center is to provide a warm, friendly informational hub for the campus.
