If this is a GenEd class, include the appropriate GenEd objectives. In the boxes below, summarize the methods used to assess course outcomes during the last year. Include the criterion youll use to judge whether or not students have achieved the expected outcome. In the boxes below, summarize the results of your assessment activities during the last year. Include your judgement as to whether or not the criterion for student achievement has been met.In the boxes below, summarize how you plan to use the results to improve student learning.Outcome #1: Identify current issues in the changing field of educational psychology. Assessment Measure: Primary source research paper Research reaction paper Assessment research & reflection Criterion for achievement: 80% or betterResults: x =83% x =86% x =80% Criterion Met: Yes/No yes yes yesAction Plan: n/a Students are given the opportunity to resubmit if initial assignments are not at an 80% n/a. Slight increase in scores from the previous fall. I should note that I had only online students than live and many times they werent viewing the lectures for information pertaining to the assignment. n/a 7% drop due to 3 that didnt turn in the assignment. Otherwise all the other grades were As or Bs.Outcome #2: Demonstrate the fundamentals of behavioral and social-cognitive learning theories and develop successful learning strategies based on these theories Assessment Measure: Behaviorism Applications Paper Criterion for achievement: 80% or betterResults: x =87% (88% prev. fall) Criterion Met: Yes/No yes Action Plan: n/a Keeping the plan from the last two evaluations: For many semesters there seems to be one reoccurring misconception that has been addressed in the lectures but continues to be manifested in the assignments. Students confuse cognitive theories with social cognitive theories and then apply them incorrectly. I had thought that I might mention something in the assignment but it is a good indicator for me about which students are doing their reading and viewing the lectures. I will remind students via the announcements about watching the lectures for important information. Outcome #3: Explain the major theories of cognitive, social, and moral development in children and their application for teaching practice. Assessment Measure: Applications of Piaget & Vygotsky to the Classroom Paper Criterion for achievement: 80% or betterResults: x=84% (89% prev. fall) Criterion Met: Yes/No yes Action Plan: N/A Consistent data showing from this assignment. Notes: 18 students took the course this past Fall semester and 11 in the Spring semester for the 20-21 academic year. All students were in the online sections. The quarantine has shown that I need to do a weekly Zoom meeting for a Q & A session. But unfortunately attendance wanes about the 3rd week, so I encourage students to schedule meetings with me when necessary. 45% of Fall student grades were Bs, no As. 82% of Spring student final grades were Bs, no As. The other two earned Cs. I continue to be happy with current assignments and assessments since all the assignments listed above are meeting the 80% target. I will continue to adjust the rubrics to be a bit more objective so that the feedback can be returned to students in a much timelier manner. Ill be trying some options for assignments other than papers. Maybe presentations.
