If this is a GenEd class, include the appropriate GenEd objectives. In the boxes below, summarize the methods used to assess course outcomes during the last year. Include the criterion youll use to judge whether or not students have achieved the expected outcome. In the boxes below, summarize the results of your assessment activities during the last year. Include your judgement as to whether or not the criterion for student achievement has been met. n =20In the boxes below, summarize how you plan to use the results to improve student learning.Outcome #1: Recognize the moral, ethical, and judicial rights and responsibilities of teachers, students, and parents within the public school system Assessment Measure: Why Teaching? Court Case Presentations Criterion for achievement: 80% or better. Even though education students can have a C- in the course for acceptance into our program we d like to see them obtain a B- in order to maintain a 3.0 GPA.Results: x =95% x =86% Criterion Met: Yes/No Yes Yes Action Plan: n/a. Small drop from spring 2020. n/a This one saw a 2% increase from spring 2020. Only one student elected to not do a presentation. Most low scores (3 Cs) were due to students not doing either a voiceover or video for the presentation since they were all in the web-based section. Student still struggled with BigBlue Button, conferencing application in Canvas. I will encourage students to upload video from their phones or YouTube links which has a quicker upload speed. Outcome #2: Investigate the purpose of education within our multicultural, democratic, globally interdependent societyAssessment Measure: Early American Education Essay Criterion for achievement: 80% or betterResults: x =89% Criterion Met: Yes/No yes Action Plan: n/a A substantial 10%+ increase in the mean score. I had modified the assignment instructions and rubric to be clearer about expectations for content. No students did not attempt the assignment and all grades were either an A or B save one. Outcome #3: Recognize the link between the goals of public education and the choices teachers make in fulfilling their professional responsibilities. Assessment Measure: A Little Taste of NEPF The Master Teacher Criterion for achievement: 80% or betterResults: x = 75% x = 97% Criterion Met: Yes/No no yes Action Plan: Substantial drop from the previous fall. This is a very straightforward assignment but I have many students who struggle with it and don t turn it in. It is even more difficult when I have to rely on them to watch the lectures for instructions since we were online due to the pandemic. I probably need to embed an instructional video in the assignment itself. n/a. Substantial increase in student performance. 10%+ Clarifying expectations has helped. Outcome #4: Trace the philosophical and historical development of US educational policy and curriculumAssessment Measure: Recent Trends in Education Essay Criterion for achievement: 80% or betterResults: x =89% Criterion Met: Yes/No yes Action Plan: n/a 1% increase from last fall Notes: 20 students took the course this past fall and 13 in the Spring. For the academic year 20-21 this course was online due to Covid-19 but still addressed all aspects of education (curriculum, pedagogy, politics, philosophy, etc) for the student who is starting their degrees in education. 75% of Fall final student grades were As and Bs which was approximately a 10% significant drop from the previous fall semester. 3 students earned grades of C and 1 D and 1 F. 84.6% of spring student final grades were As and Bs which was an increase from the prior spring. Most students easily find success in the course due to the format of exploration in education topics. The explorations deal with very basic education content and historical background. In the past 5 years, students have consistently done well in the course as evidenced by the means for each assignment aligned to each course outcome. Student evaluations have always been favorable. The only significant change has been to some of the rubrics and assignment directions to make expectations clearer and to have the assessments better reflect the newer edition of the textbook. The change!"%LPRTWesvxyz{} Ͻᴽtkbkho5CJaJhJ 5CJaJhh05>*CJaJhEhE5>*CJaJhh05CJaJhE5CJaJhEhE5CJaJh#P5CJaJhG5CJaJhA^5CJaJhX 5CJaJhT5CJaJhG5CJaJhk5CJaJhJ 5CJaJhJ hJ 5CJaJ$ ' ; N y $$Ifa$gd# 1$7$8$H$gd D S \ l & ' : ; M N x y z ! ||mbmhJ CJ\]aJh )hPu6CJ\]aJh )hPuCJ\]aJhPuCJ\]aJhPuCJaJh )hPuCJaJh )hPu5CJ\aJhPu5CJ\aJh.ehCJaJh55CJaJh|5CJaJhC=5CJaJh75hHc5CJaJh75h5CJaJ#y z !
