Include your judgement as to whether or not the criterion for student achievement has been met.In the boxes below, please reflect on this outcomes results and summarize how you plan to use the results to improve student learning.Outcome #1: Utilize written genres appropriate to the task. Assessment Measure: Using measure 2 of essay rubrics: organize into a specific rhetorical pattern relevant to the purpose. Criterion for achievement: Score a 7 or higher on essay rubric element. 90% of students must achieve this. Results: 46 of 47 students successfully completed this measure. Criterion Met: Yes/No1. Results Analysis: Like ENG 101, this is a component that generally works for this course. 2. Action Plan: Maybe tighten the requirements further to ensure mastery, but no radical changes. Outcome #2: Express ideas clearly and compellingly in text. Assessment Measure: Using measure 4 of essay rubrics: apply the fundamentals of revision. Criterion for achievement: Score a 7 or higher on the two relevant rubric elements. 90% of students must achieve this. Results: 45 of 47 students successfully completed this measure. Criterion Met: Yes/No1. Results Analysis: This very easily could have gone the other way as an additional 9 students received exactly a 7. 2. Action Plan: This is where some NROC English material may prove beneficial. Looking to implement for Fall 2020. Outcome #3: Effectively identify and address various audiences and contexts.Assessment Measure: Using measures 1 and 3 of essay rubrics: determine a purpose and generate ideas; choose appropriate diction, point of view, and structure based on a well-defined audience. Criterion for achievement: Score a 7 or higher on the relevant rubric element. 90% of students must achieve this. Results: 45 of 47 students successfully completed this measure. Criterion Met: Yes/No1. Results Analysis: Like outcome #2, this very easily could have gone the other way with an additional 12 students getting exactly a 7 on one or both measure. 2. Action Plan: Very clear work on structure is needed for this level. Will be making teaching of such more robust to really drive home the point of planning and organization. Notes: This one makes me quite nervous as it could have gone either way depending on a point in either direction. As a result, I think looking to integrate some content from NROC English may prove beneficialnot to form the spine of the course, but to strengthen what were already doing in such courses. Looking at a fall trial for that.
